The Farewell Youth Fest will return for its third edition in Dresden from June 18 to 20, 2027. On fairly small stages, national and international artists will once again take the stage one after another to celebrate the festival with the audience in a particularly intimate atmosphere.

What began in 2025 as a pretty crazy idea—and was already in its second year by 2026 – has since become a must-attend event for fans of punk, hardcore, emo, alternative, and related genres. And yet, the Farewell Youth Fest has remained exactly what it set out to be from the start: a festival by fans, for fans, right in the heart of Dresden, with short distances, small clubs, and big bands.

The realization that you can achieve quite a lot with very few resources and plenty of passion is as much a part of punk rock as it is of youth. “We couldn’t get enough of growing up,” goes the lyric in “Farewell Youth,” a song by the U.S. punk band The Menzingers – and who isn’t familiar with that addiction to the feeling when, all of a sudden, what you barely dared to dream of just a moment ago seems possible?

Something like this might once have been unimaginable: a festival featuring heroes from back then and legends of today, all gathered in one small space – in Dresden. You could hire agencies and pay a lot of money to make that happen. But sometimes all it takes is a touch of youthful recklessness, a few phone calls, and suddenly the plans, venues, and dates are all set.
